Jan Balaban was born on 29 September 1997 in Poznan. He started to learn the violin at the age of 5 with Karina Gidaszewska MA. He continued his education with Assistant Professor Ewelina Pachucka-Mazurek, and then Agata Szymczewska MA. In 2015 she graduated from the Jadwiga Kaliszewska Secondary Music School in Poznan, where his teacher was Joanna Kreft MA. He presently studies violin at the I. J. Paderewski School of Music in Poznan with Prof. Marcin Baranowski and Assistant Lecturer Joanna Kreft MA.
He perfected his skills during music classes held by the following professors:
Zakhar Bron, Agata Szymczewska, Marcin Baranowski, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Mariusz Derewecki, Bartosz Bryla, Piotr Plawner, Keiko Wataya, Edward Zienkowski, Petru Munteanu.
He was awarded prizes in numerous competitions, e.g.:
- 3rd Prize at the 2nd Lubuski Violin Tournament in Zagan 2006
- 3rd Prize at the 11th All-Polish Violin Competition “Janko Muzykant” in Sochaczew 2009
- 2nd Prize at the 6th All-Polish Violin Meetings for Children in Plock 2010
- 3rd Prize at the 7th All-Polish Forum of Young Instrumentalists in Rybnik 2011
