Maria Targosz-Skupniewicz – born on 15.06.1968 in Krakow to a musical family. Her father Jacek Targosz worked at the Krakow School of Music and her mother Boguslawa Opolska-Targosz taught eurythmics and piano at schools in Krakow.
Maria started her musical education at the age of 6 at Primary Music School in Krakow learning the piano with Prof. M. Czech. At the age of 11 she started to learn the violin with Prof. C. Klimczyk and later with Prof. H. Podgorska. After graduating from a Secondary Music School she started studies at the Poznan School of Music with Prof. Marcin Baranowski. She graduated in 1992.
The same year she started to cooperate with the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Szczecin Chamber Orchestra and the Camerata Nova String Ensemble, giving numerous concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Poland. Between 1993 and 1995 she regularly cooperated with the Neubranderburg Symphony Orchestra (Germany). Between 1995 and 1997 she taught violin at the Szczecin branch of the Poznan School of Music at the Department of Musical Instrument Teaching.
In 1998 she moved to Rzeszow, joining the local philharmonic orchestra. Since 2003 she is a soloist and 2nd concertmaster there. She cooperates with chamber ensembles of the Malopolska and Podkarpacie regions. She also teaches at the State Primary Music School in Lancut.
