Jakub Staszel was born on April 16, 2003. He started to learn the violin in the 1st grade of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Comprehensive Music School in Krakow. In 2016 he continued his education in a Krakow junior high and the Wladyslaw Zelenski Secondary Music School, where his violin teacher was Prof. Katarzyna Balas.

In the years 2015 and 2016, he participated in a master class programme “Luslawicka Orkiestra Talentow” (Luslawice Talent Orchestra) at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music. In 2016, he was awarded the scholarship of the Pro Musica Bona Foundation. In the years 2018 and 2019, he was awarded the scholarship of the Ministry of Art and National Heritage. He has been the concertmaster of the Penderecki Youth Orchestra since 2018. He participated in numerous courses: Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary, Winter Academy of Music in Luslawice, International Courses in Lancut, and Zakopane Academy of Art, polishing his music skills with the following professors: Marcin Baranowski, Agata Szymczewska, Janusz Wawrowski, Lukasz Blaszczyk, and Bartosz Bryla.
He presently studies with Prof. Marcin Baranowski.

Jakub was awarded numerous prizes at music competitions:

  • 2nd Prize at the 2nd All-Polish Competition of Miniatures for Violin, Warsaw 2016
  • 1st Prize and Special Prize for best performance of a piece by the Polish composer, Henryk Wieniawski – 12th All-Polish Karol and Antoni Szafranek Forum for Young Instrumentalists, Rybnik 2016
  • 3rd Prize at the 41st All-Polish Bach Competition, Zielona Gora 2017
  • 1st Prize at the 7th Tadeusz Wronski Competition for Young Violinists Solo, Tomaszow Mazowiecki 2018
  • 2nd Prize at the 7th Janina Garscia International Competition, Stalowa Wola 2018
  • 2nd Prize at the 3rd Jadwiga Kaliszewska All-Polish Violin Competition, Poznan 2019
  • 1st Prize at the 6th Groblicz Family All-Polish Violin Competition, Krakow 2019
